About Janet Poczwa
Photography has been my passion since childhood. My first inklings of artistic inspiration began when taking photographs with my father's Kodak Box Brownie. During my teens, a trip to New Zealand with a point and shoot camera compelled me to progress further to a 35mm Nikon SLR system and expand my artistic vision on film. I have now switched to the digital 35mm SLR format exclusively.
My main photographic influence is nature photographer John Shaw. I feel his work shows a very high degree of artistic and technical mastery and his books have encouraged me to approach my own work in a more consistent and methodical way. More recently, I have been undertaking nature photography workshops with Michael Snedic, one of Australia's top professional nature photographers and have found my level of skill improve immensely as a result.
